Membership in the Cherry Community AssociationWHO WE ARE (Statement of Purpose from our 501(c)(3) Certificate of Incorporation) The exclusively charitable purposes for which CGCAI is organized and for which it shall be operated are to: (a) promote coordination of governmental, public welfare and social services in the community of Cherry Grove in the Town of Brookhaven, County of Suffolk, New York State; (b) to improve the public welfare, public safety, social, and environmental conditions of Cherry Grove, with a particular focus on the welfare and well-being of the elderly in Cherry Grove; (c) provide workshops for the general public concerning local public welfare and safety issues; (d) maintain a community house for the benefit of the general public in Cherry Grove; (e) promote and maintain efficient and environmentally sound public transportation to and from Cherry Grove; (f) foster historic preservation in Cherry Grove; and, (g) engage in any and all lawful activities incidental to and in pursuit of the foregoing purposes. WHAT WE DO (Statement of Activities) In concert with the appropriate agencies, the Association shall take lead responsibility in: coordinating the provision of pest management services; maintain a communications system to ensure timely notification to residents on matters of common interest; provide facilities for the provision of cultural, religious and community-interest programming; make housing available to visiting physicians; and to the extent possible, direct the development of the community consistent with its history and the uniqueness of the physical environment. Membership and tax deductible contributionsAs of January 1, 2002 CGCAI annual dues is $35.00. To become a Member open, print and fill out the CGCAI Membership Form, and bring it with a check payable to CGCAI to the first [May] General Meeting of the season; or mail it to Cliff Provost/CGCAI Membership Committee, 140 7th Avenue, Apt. 1B, New York, NY 10011.
